Heather Robbins Music
Heather Robbins
I earned a MA in Music from the University of New Hampshire 1n 1996. There I specialized in vocal pedagogy and performance, and choral methods. I studied with Kathleen Wilson at UNH, with Marie Landis in New Zealand, and Neil Semer in New York.
My students have won prizes in competitions, held lead and supporting roles in musical theatre productions and opera, and auditioned successfully for school programs. It is exciting when students succeed in this way! But my passion as your teacher is to help you find your unique voice, and feel comfortable and confident using it in whatever situation you want – whether it’s to be the lead in the school show or community theatre production, hold your own at karaoke night or perform at an open mic event, sing a solo in your chorus or feel confident singing hymns in church, or preparing for a future of serious study by auditioning for college vocal programs.
As a performer, I have worked in opera, as an oratorio soloist, in a cappella jazz groups, and in professional choruses both in the United States and in New Zealand. Currently I sing regularly with the Tritones and with Mountain View, and as a freelance soprano soloist.
I founded and currently direct the Kingston Women’s Chorus, a non-auditioned community chorus that sings a wide variety of music for women’s voices. I also co-founded the Stonebridge Singers, a non-auditioned mixed-voice chorus at the Stonebridge senior community in Montgomery. These non-auditioned groups are a wonderful way for singers to share their love of singing, in harmony with others!
I am a member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing and its New Jersey chapter, and American Choral Director’s Association.
